Apostles

“Go ye forth, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Matthew: 28: 19-20

The Chosen:
Jesus had many followers. He had a divine message that his disciples (students) were being taught. When Jesus died the disciples became the Apostles- messengers. Their message was to preach about Christ and to baptize and built churches all over the world. Jesus chose the Twelve Apostles Himself!! Some of the Twelve Apostles were disciples of the Forerunner of Christ, John the Baptist. John looked at Jesus and said “Behold the lamb of god” Andrew was the first to follow him, no questions asked. As Jesus continued his message, he chose his disciples for various reasons. The followed no questions asked.

They kept their mission and organized converts into Churches. That is why the orthodox church is considered and Apostolic Church — St. Andrew was in Greece and he began to preach His word directly the way Jesus prepared for him to do so. We have kept church with its original Apostolic teachings.

Even though the Apostles were so strong in their faith, they were like we are and sometimes they had a moment where they questioned what they saw. The disciples sometimes had weaknesses and were afraid. There are parables that are examples to us how they showed that they were human like us. Jesus taught them to have FAITH!! Even after Jesus died, one of his Apostles , Thomas, doubted that Jesus appeared to the others and Jesus showed himself to him and he believed. We all have times when we question our faith but we remember that Jesus is there for us and he loves us and helps us always. Just like the Apostles we can be Heroes of our Faith. We can continue to learn about Jesus and to remember to go out and tell others what we know. We can continue to be strong in our faith by going to church, participating in the Sacraments and do good things to help others.
