John the Baptist - The Forerunner He prepared for Christ’s coming. Was born to Elizabeth and Zachariah, a Hebrew Priest. Archangel Gabriel came to Zachariah and told him he will have a son. He was old, as was his wife. He didn’t believe this so Gabriel took away his ability to speak. He got his voice back when John was born. Herod sent for his soldiers to kill all infants (in search for Jesus). Elizabeth hid John and they killed Zachariah. Elizabeth hid in a cave with John and she died when he was 40 days old. St.John stayed in the wilderness and was raised by angels. He preached repentance and prepared the people for the coming of the Lord. He was beheaded. Feast Days:
