Modern Saints

We have discussed that there are so many Saints. Not all of them came from the time of Christ some are more modern day saints. Some may even be around us now and we don’t even know it.

Sainthood is a gift (charisma), given by God to man, through the holy spirit. Most of the saints have great miracles related to them. God gave them these miracles so that many of us can know that God is really there for us.

St. Irene Chrysovalantou is a saint that has a great story—(read story to kids). There is an icon of her in Astoria , New York and they call here the weeping icon because one day, out of no where, the icon began to weep from the eyes. This is a great miracle. To this day, no one understands what happened.

Elaine told you about St. Herman—he was from the US and also born in the 1800s. There are many Modern day saints. They were holy people who were extraordinary. They were heroic in their faith, and they inspire us to do the same.
