Warriors

Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the tricks of the devil. Ephesians 6:11

The Saints (our heroes) defended Christ in their quest to be like Him. Because of their strong faith, the Church considers them special. They defended their faith with all they had and in turn taught others to do the same. There are so many Saints in our church and we can’t get exact numbers on how many there are. Some are acknowledged by the church others are unknown. The church tries to remember them all. Everyday, Saints are remembered and prayed for.
Very often a Saint is celebrated on the anniversary of his/her death because this is when the Saint is reborn in the life everlasting (heaven). The first Sunday after the Feast of Holy Pentecost is observed by the Orthodox Church as the Sunday of All Saints when the church remembers ALL Saints who have no special day of their own.

All of us that have been baptized in the Orthodox church, are given a Christian name at Baptism. This name comes from a Saint and from that day on, the Saint you are named after is your Patron Saint. Each of us should learn about our Patron Saint and try to imitate the virtues of that Saint as best as we can. The day we celebrate the Patron Saint is called our name day, this day should be celebrated just as much if not more than our own birthday!!! This is the feast day of our Patron Saint.

Patron Saint of our Church is: St. George - Life of Saint Goerge

Who is your patron Saint??? When is your name Day.
