SCHEDULE
Dance Troupe Registration: Begins August 15th and will continue until September 26th. Also, mark your calendars for a very important parents' meeting on Sunday, September 26th.
HDF 2010 ORLANDO RE-CAP
Orlando was wonderful, we all had a wonderful time seeing our old friends, making new friends, visiting Sea World, and of course dancing, dancing, dancing!!!! Words cannot express how proud we are of all of you guys. You were amazing, your performances were awesome!!!!! When you entered the dance floor with both of your performances you showed us that you have that passion in your hearts and souls that we have been trying to instill in you all these years. You were flawless. As we told you this past weekend the Award that you received is Excellent - Silver Medal but to us you are all Superior and Gold medalists. We could not have asked for anything more from you guys than what you gave us. You were amazing!!!!

PURPOSE
To bring our youth together in Orthodox Christian fellowship and to afford them the opportunity to live, learn and experience our Hellenic culture. The Spirit of Orthodoxy is to stand before all other elements.
OBJECTIVES
1. To
develop an awareness and appreciation for our Hellenic and Orthodox
culture and tradition.
2. To teach and learn Hellenic folk dances with
special attention and concern on the authenticity of movement
and music.
3. To relate to dances other elements of Hellenic
folklore, such as costume, folk songs, folk instruments,
etc.
4. To link Hellenic folk dances to their historical,
social and traditional context.
5. To learn to love to dance the Hellenic folk dances
and feel it in your heart and soul.

DANCE GROUP
RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Each dancer is required to attend every practice. Attendance will be taken at each practice. If an absence is anticipated, please be courteous and inform the instructors. Absenteeism of 3 consecutive times from practice will result on non-performance status and will prohibit your advancement.
2. You will be allowed to miss 6 practices this year. 3 of those absences will be from September to December. You are expected to be at every practice during the month of January to prepare for competition. The other 3 allowed absences will be from February through May.
3. Your attitude, enthusiasm, responsibility, and respect for your fellow dancers and instructors are among the important factors considered on you advancement and participation in the dance group.
4. Any form of ill behavior, bad attitude, or disrespect at a performance, dance practice, or any dance group activity or function will result in non-performance status. Misconduct and disturbances during practices will not be tolerated.
5. DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES: A dancer will be given 3 warnings for misbehaving during practice.
1st WARNING: Instructors/Directors will meet with dancer and parents.
2nd WARNING: Instructors/Directors will meet with dancer, parents, and Father Tom.
3rd WARNING: The dancer will not be able to participate in the dance group or any dance group functions for 1 year.
Respect, Good Behavior, and Teamwork are the number one priorities for our dance troupes. If you do not follow these rules as a parent or dancer then you will be asked to leave the event/practice and the dance troupe.
6. Always respect your fellow dancers, all adults and your instructors.
7. Tardiness is not only rude, it interrupts practice. You must always try to be on time and ready to practice. If tardy, you will have to pay $1.00.
8. Dancers should always wear proper clothing and footwear (tennis shoes or dance shoes). If you do not have on the proper footwear you will have to pay $1.00.
NO CHEWING GUM DURING PRACTICES OR PERFORMANCES. If chewing gum you will have to pay $1.00.
9. Every dancer is expected to help with fundraisers. Fundraisers are important so we can purchase costumes, necessary props that are needed for our performances, and participating in HDF.
10. Cell phones are not permitted to be turned on during dance practice. $1 fee each time it rings during practice. If you must have your cell phone on during practice for an emergency, please notice director at the beginning of class.
Dancers 13 and under should always be accompanied by a parent – Festival, HDF, or any dance group function.
11. No food or drinks are allowed in the dressing rooms at anytime. Dancers are not allowed to drink or eat while wearing ethnic costumes. If costumes are stained, parents will pay for the cleaning of the costume. If the costume is not able to be cleaned or is destroyed, the parents will have to pay a $500 per costume fee.
12. During the festival if any dancer under 13 is found in dressing rooms or downstairs hall by himself/herself without parental supervision the dancer will not be allowed to dance for the duration of the festival. This rule also applies to all the participants of HDF. Absolutely no one under 13 is allowed to be without parental supervision for the entire week-end. If this happens the parent and dancer will be asked to leave immediately.
